Dissecting Microscope donated to Marine Invertebrates

Dissecting microscopes allow researchers to closely examine three dimensional specimens as opposed to samples prepared on slides.

We have an increasingly high volume of visitors, students and volunteers who use these microscopes to study and identify invertebrates such as marine worms and small crustaceans. Some of the existing microscopes we have are showing their age and getting difficult to find parts for. Additionally, as some of our volunteers become more experienced, they require better quality microscopes in order to see the features required for identification of the animals they are examining. This donation has allowed us greater flexibility and an increased capacity to provide quality equipment for examination of the collection and research.
