Is the crocodile case too big and fragile to move?

The answer has come back and the crocodile case is on the move to a new home in the Surviving Australia Gallery. As the case is 4.5m long x 1.4 m wide, this move is no simple task. Today the process finally got under way with the removal of the top, glass panel from the case.

The move has been planned as a staged process. With the top in safe storage, over the next day or so, the side and end panels will be dismantled -- the beading removed and the glass taken out for safe transport. This will give easy access to remove the crocodile, leaving the base to be transported across the Museum in one, heavy, awkward piece.
